Project: Protect Air
A.C. Moore is participating in an anti-idling program called Breathe Better (B2). The B2 (Breathe Better) program is an anti-idling/clean air campaign which will help reduce the amount of air pollution our children are exposed to from school buses and vehicles while on school grounds.
The goal of B2 is to help protect the health and safety of children by reducing harmful vehicle emissions around school campuses. We have asked parents to help support this effort by turning off their vehicle’s engine during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. We are promoting the program through our newsletter, The Bobcat. We have also installed new anti-idling signs around the school campus. Caregivers who are “caught” supporting our program by not-idling will receive a Breathe Better window cling to put in their back window in hopes that many other drivers will get the message and help support this program as well.
We have been using Air Quality Flags everyday. The students who do our daily Bobcat Show look up the Air Quality forecast and announce the "color" of the flag. If it's not green then our bobcats watch out. We have had to stay inside for recess when the air quality was orange and red. Green and yellow are okay!
